National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Assistant Director Kamran Faisal was found dead at his residence on Friday.
The NAB officer was an integral part of the investigation related to the Rental Power Project scam in which the current Prime Minister (PM) is incriminated.
He was living in the Federal Lodges and allegedly committed suicide due to extreme pressure and depression.
IG Islamabad Bani Yameen said that the body of the deceased was found hanging from a fan. Apparently it looks like a suicide but nothing can be said for certain until after the postmortem. The dead body has been shifted to PIMS for postmortem.
Meanwhile Chairman NAB Fasiullah Bokhari also visited the site of the incident and expressed his grief over the death of the investigating officer.
It may be mentioned that Chief Justice Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry had ordered that all those accused of graft in power generation projects be arrested and for the chairman of the NAB to report to the court.
Supreme Court on Thursday had expressed its anger over NAB inability to arrest all accused in the RPP case and had dismissed NAB’s report as unsatisfactory and ordered NAB to report back with the case files on Jan 23 so that the court could itself point out evidence that could form the basis of a prosecution.
