Tehreek Minhajul Quaran(TMQ) chief Tahir ul Qadri was summoned by The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) on Friday after being in breach of the oath he took while seeking asylum.
According to sources, the TMQ chief had sought asylum when he came under threat from the Tehreek-e-Taliban (TTP) and Lashkar-e-Jhangvi(LeJ) Pakistan. Qadri met with the Danish cartoon artist who made blasphemous caricatures of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) and hence his life was in danger in Pakistan.
RCMP said that a formal investigation will go underway against Qadri as it was a fundamental condition of his asylum that he would not be allowed into the country he took asylum from.
The TMQ chief’s asylum request was accepted in 2009 and he had since been living in Canada.
Qadri’s long march ended Thursday night in an anti-climax and left many in the country stunned as he celebrated his “victory” with the same people he has set out to eradicate.
