Rain, snowfall likely in scattered areas until Friday

Rain with snowfall over the hills is likely in scattered areas of upper Punjab, Islamabad, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, North Balochistan, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan on Thursday and Friday. According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), another weather system gripped most parts of the country on Wednesday that was expected to last until Friday night. Under the influence of this weather system, scattered rains were expected in Islamabad, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab, North Balochistan, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir during the period. Widespread showers might also rain over Lahore, Gujranwala, Sahiwal divisions and Kashmir on Thursday and Friday. Snowfall is also expected over the hills of Murree, Galliyat, Malakand, Hazara, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir. The lowest minimum temperatures recorded during the last 24 hours were Skardu -10°C, Astore and Parachinar -9°C, Kalat and Gupis -8°C, Quetta -5°C, Kalam, Hunza, Gilgit and Dalbandin -4°C, Chitral and Rawalakot -3°C, Murree, Sibbi and Bunji -2°C. Rainfall recorded in the last 24 hours was 6mm in Malamjabba and Chitral, Dir, and 1mm in Saidu Sharif. The snowfall recorded in Kalam was 0.5 inches.
