The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has decided not to participate in the sit-in organised by the Tehreek Minhajul Quran in the federal capital.
PTI Information Secretary Shahfqat Mehmood said the decision was taken during a meeting and the party would support democratic forces in the country. “Our party believes that only an elected government can bring real change,” he said.
Earlier, major opposition parties, including the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz, announced that they would not support an undemocratic move and pressed the government to announce the date for general elections and the caretaker setup.
In his address earlier in the day, Tehreek Minhajul Quran leader Dr Tahirul Qadri had invited Imran Khan and his PTI to join their sit-in in Islamabad.
