Pakistan People’s Party leader Faisal Raza Abidi on Wednesday tendered his resignation as  member of the Senate to Pakistan People’s Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari.

Abidi’s resignation is widely being attributed to the former senator’s covert differences with the party leadership ever since his tirade against the chief justice of Pakistan accusing him of being complicit in Arsalan Iftikhar’s graft cases.

The firebrand Abidi  was issued a show-cause notice from the party for violating discipline which ultimately cost him his membership of the PPP’s Core Committee.

Abidi was elected member of the Senate from PPP in 2009. He has also served as the Karachi Division president of PPP but later resigned from his post after the coalition partner MQM demanded his removal, saying his presence was harmful for the relationship of two parties.

The resignation received at Bilawal House is yet to be submitted to the Senate secretary.
