The Indian government has started issuing visas on arrival to Pakistani senior citizens on Tuesday, Indian media reported.
For the first time since Independence, Pakistanis above the age of 65 will be issued visas on arrival at the Attari-Wagah border joint checkpost, 30 km from Amritsar. It is a single entry visa issued for 45 days and Pakistanis issued this visa will not be allowed to visit Punjab, Jammu and Kashmir, Kerala and other restricted areas.
This visa can be availed twice a year and people issued this visa will not have to report to local police stations, which is mandatory for most Pakistani travelers.
Those who avail the visa on arrival at Wagah will have to return to Pakistan the same way – across the border checkpost on foot. They cannot change their mode of travel by, say, taking the Samjhauti Express train or a bus on their way back.
India and Pakistan had signed a visa agreement in September last year under which rules to issue visas to nationals of both countries were eased a little. It was under this agreement that both sides agreed to allow visa on arrival for senior citizens at the Attari-Wagah border.
Last week, as tension escalated at the Line of Control in Kashmir, Indian Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde made it clear that it would not affect the visa agreement. “We are not rethinking the agreement. Whatever agreement we entered into, we will honour that,” he had said.

  1. Great, about time Pakistani's are Indian and not Pakistani's (this was created by England to divide and rule)!!!

  2. How many 65yrs old would like to go to India? I personally see no reason unless I have some 100 yrs old family member still alive over there.I will be happy sitting at home and enjoy myself. Especially now that Mr Qadri has come to Pakistan on vacation. If I go abroad, I should go to Dubai or London to have good time or I could buy few properties over there. I could my British friend Mr altaf. He is worried now a days because Scotland yards came once to his office.Since that time he is unable to move his bowel regularly.I think he needs more help and consolation. I think Imust go to London instead of getting this visa on arrival at Wagah border. But then I do not have money to buy ticket. Ism going to call Mr Qadri to see if he could lend me some money.I heard he is getting lot of money now a days because he wants to bring revolution in the country.I do not understand this guy.he likes to live in Canada but wants to bring revolution eight thousand miles away in Pakistan. Can some body explain to me. Where was I, when I started my comment? Yes, it was visa on arrival at Wagah crossing point.( to be continued )
