Minister for Information and Broadcasting Qamar Zaman Kaira on Monday said governor’s rule had been imposed in Balochistan after consultation with all stakeholders, including the political parties. In an exclusive live interview with Radio Pakistan‚ he said this step was in accordance with the constitution and not against the democratic norms. Regretting the loss of precious lives in the Quetta explosions‚ he said soon after the tragedy‚ the leadership of the Pakistan People’s Party asked its local leadership in the province to sort out the issue. This was followed by the visits of the cabinet members and finally the prime minister. The information minister said Hazaras resorted to a powerful mode of protest by remaining silence and not burying the victims of the blasts. “This protest of children‚ women and men in extremely cold weather was so powerful that it jolted the entire country and the world.” He expressed confidence that the governor’s rule will be able to create an enabling environment in the next two months for the holding of general elections in a peaceful environment.
