President Asif Ali Zardari on Monday issued a presidential proclamation imposing Governor’s Rule in Balochistan.

Taking notice of the deteriorating security situation, President Zardari has decided to visit the turbulent province and meet all the stakeholders.

Under Governor’s Rule, the powers of the provincial government will now be transferred to the National Assembly in the absence of a provincial legislature for necessary legislation. The governor with a small cabinet will govern the province under the emergency rule till fresh elections are held. The rule will be imposed for 60 days.

The declaration follows Prime Minister Raja Pervaiz Ashraf’s Saturday night decision to invoke Article 234 of the Constitution and declare a state of emergency in the province.

The move comes in response to protests by members of the Hazara Shia community at the site of January 10 twin bombings in Quetta. The protesters held vigil beside the shrouded bodies for three days in row, demanding that the army take control of Quetta.

  1. Hundreds of people had to die and 84 dead bodies with hoard of mourners were in protest before notice could be taken.

  2. Whom did you hear-dead or alive?
The question is so very simple that everyone including common street fellow even knows the answer except me and therefore I am very humbly requesting none but our worthy President Asif Ali Zardari to please enlighten me at least if not the nation as to whom did you listen to and agree with in Quetta to dismiss Chief Minister of the province of Baluchistan and promulgate Governor Rule since there were none but just two distinctive parties were involved namely the dead and alive?

  3. why sunni jamats did not joining hands with our shiia brothers? where were all these mullahs and aalims? Don't they feel the pain of their fellow brothers who are muslims as well as pakistani? That is the reason why no on ever supports or follow them.
as for as President and his people go!!! that is indeed a sad issue and hopefully will be history in couple of months as new elections are coming up.

  4. Pakistanis will never rise against injustice and antocities against them. They have become numb to these things. Zardari will rule Pakistan as long as he lives. The best NS can hope for is a provincial govt. in Punjab. This is the fate of a the failed state of Pakistan and the failed nation of Pakistanis.

  5. It just kills me to see all this go on so close to the elections. Why did it take Zardari and the rental Raja so long to do this, its not it started just a few days ago. This has been going on for a very long time, too many people have lost their lives.Since it is close to the election time, these dummies come running acting like they give a hoot about the people of Baluchistan, give me a break.his is all part of the plan, first you have to stop MQM from taking part in the march, then you make deal with MQM promising them the big piece of the pie(sindh) after waiting all this time, now you decide to disolve the Baluchistan government, nice work slick Zardari and PPP.Shouldn't Zardari do the same in Sindh???
