I Love New Year brings the unique pairing of Sunny Deol and Kangana Ranaut on the silver screen for the first time. Sunny fans will get to see their favourite actor in a romantic film after a hiatus. (Deol was last seen in Yamla Pagla Deewana). Director duo Radhika Rao and Vinay Sapru who only had Sunny Deol and Kangana Ranaut in mind for this film, share their thoughts. “The film required a 42 year old man who is not settled in life and how his world changes when he meets someone who is his opposite. The film is set against the backdrop of New York on New Year’s Eve and the story is about how this man (Sunny Deol) falls in love with Kangana and events unfold. The story is about standardization and how due to it things unfold. For us, New York was the epitome of standardization. It’s the generation of Mc Donalds, malls, gadgets and multiplexes. You see this in every part of the world now. So Sunny sir was the perfect choice. He’s tech savvy, very up to date on what’s happening around and a gadget freak! He has all the latest applications on his phone. During shoot, he would show us and we would be amazed. He’s tuned in with today’s generation”, say the two. Adding, “We’ve known Kangana for a long time. She’s a homely, soft spoken and a romantic girl. We always kept her in mind while writing the script”.
