The Punjab Emergency Service, Rescue 1122, will provide emergency cover to the long march on January 14, with 8 fully equipped ambulances, 12 fire trucks, three rescue and recovery vehicles and two water bowsers.
Holidays for these rescue teams have been cancelled, and special emergency duties have been assigned to them. Key points at Gujjar Khan, Koral Chowk and Faizabad have been established to provide swift cover to people in case of an emergency.
Rescue District Emergency Officer Dr Abdur Rahman said the rescuers will be on duty to provide swift response, but citizens are requested to dial 1122 for timely response from the emergency service and give way to emergency vehicles, so they can provide effective emergency medical cover in case of an untoward incident.
