Federal Minister for Interior Rehman Malik on Sunday said Tehreek Minhajul Quran (TMQ) chief Dr Tahirul Qadri had become the biggest liar in the country and had acquired the title of Sheikhul Islam by speaking lies and taking advantage of people for fulfilling his dreams. He said the lies of the TMQ chief will soon be exposed in the shape of a White Paper. Malik said the purpose of Qadri’s long march was to derail the democratic system and an effort to postpone the upcoming general elections. He said there is complete democracy in the country‚ which will continue to flourish despite attempts by certain elements to derail the democratic process. While talking to media personnel after reviewing security arrangements for the long march, the minister said the democratic system would prevail in the country and Qadri’s agenda for derailing the system would not be successful. Referring to Qadri’s charter of demand, Malik said the dissolution of election commission meant a delay of another six months in holding of elections. “If Qadri is well versed with the constitution’s spirit, he should not have talked in such an extra-constitutional manner,” said Malik adding that Qadri should not mislead the nation. Responding to a query, he said five terrorists were arrested from Karachi who had planned to attack Qadri’s long march. He said the security of Islamabad residents would be ensured during the long march, adding that no one could be allowed to violate the law. He said an area has been fixed for the participants of the march and strict action will be taken if the participants swelled out of that area. Malik said his statement regarding terrorist attacks on the long march was based on intelligence reports; therefore‚ Qadri should not put the lives of innocent people at risk. The federal minister asked Dr Qadri to stop negative propaganda against the federal and Punjab governments. He termed Qadri’s allegations, in which he alleged that trenches had been dug in Islamabad, contrary to the truth. “Dr Tahirul Qadri should prove his allegations otherwise he should go back to Canada where his foreign leaders are keen to listen to his achievements,” he said. Malik alleged that Dr Qadri came to Pakistan to become an unconstitutional prime minister. He said the nation had seen Dr Qadri’s real face. He said it would be better for Dr Qadri to get a medical checkup which had become necessary for him. The Interior Minister announced a reward of Rs 5 million for anyone who produces concrete information to proving that Qadri had received foreign funding for the march.
