The Punjab police had been put on high alert throughout the province during Tehreek-e-Minhajul Quran chief Dr Tahir Ul Qadri’s long march. Capital City Police had also intensified security in and around the entire route of the march by deploying police personnel. Capital City Police Chief IG Haji Muhammad Aslam Tareen said on Sunday that he had directed DIG (Operation) and Additional SP (Operation), SDPOs and SHOs to remain highly alert and ensure foolproof security in their respective areas.
He said he directed the police officers to take effective precautionary measures, especially at crowded public places, to prevent incidents of terrorism and subversion.
Tareen ordered deployment of plain clothes police wherever necessary. Police officers were directed to utilise all the available resources and their best professional skills to maintain vigil against suspects and dubious elements.
