Activists of Majlis-e-Wahdatul Muslimeen and Imamia Student Organization continued their sit-in on Sunday in front of the Governor House against the killings of Shia Hazaras in Quetta.
A large number of workers, including women and children, participated in the sit-in which started on Saturday evening.
“It has been more that 30 hours since we started this protest, but no one came to talk to us,” a protestor said.
The protesters were carrying banners and placards inscribed with slogans against the killing in Quetta. Addressing the protesters, MWM Punjab General Secretary Abdul Khaliq Asadi called for dissolving the Balochistan government.
Residents of Imamia Colony also staged a protest on the main GT Road due to which the road is blocked for all types of traffic. “We have brought our children and wives with us, and we will not leave until our demands are met. We have brought food supplies and will keep the GT Road blocked until the government meets the demands of the Shia Hazaras,” he said. The protesting residents only allowed the convoy of Qadri’s long march to pass through; for everyone else, the road had been blocked. All Pakistan Anjuman-e-Tajraan leader Pervaiz Khalid announced that all shops will remain closed on today in protest against the Quetta killings. “All shops on the Mall Road, Ganpat Road, Hall Road, Rang Mehal, in Shah Alam Market and many other markets of the city will be closed on Monday,” he said.
