Pakistan agrees to hold flag meeting with India

Flag meeting between commanders of Pakistan Army and India forces in Poonch at 1pm today (Monday) as tension prevailed between the two countries after violation of ceasefire on LoC by the Indian Army.
Pakistan will reportedly strongly protest against killing of its two soldiers by Indian Army at flag meeting, according to reports. According to Indian media reports, Pakistan has agreed to hold the flag meeting only after repeated requests from India and its army to de-escalate tension along the Line of Control (LoC). On Saturday night, Indian and Pakistani troops traded heavy gunfire along the LoC in Poonch sector after the movement of a group of suspected infiltrators was detected, in fresh escalation of tension. Earlier on Saturday, the Indian government said it would not buckle to “wild calls for revenge and reaction” over the alleged killing and beheading of two Indian soldiers by Pakistani troops. Border tensions between India and Pakistan have risen sharply since the January 6 death of a Pakistani soldier in firing by Indian forces along the LoC. Two days later, Pakistani soldiers allegedly killed and beheaded two Indian soldiers in the Mendhar sector in Poonch district. In Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir, the civil society appealed to the governments of India and Pakistan to restore peace and respect the 2003 ceasefire agreement.
