Sindh Inspector General of Police Fayyaz Ahmed Leghari has called for pursuing a comprehensive strategy to take effective security measures during the holy month of Rabi-ul-Awwal, especially, on the eve of 12th Rabi-ul-Awwal.
He also directed to make all out efforts to ensure security at different programs which will be organised to observe the birth anniversary of the Holy Prophet (Peace Be Upon Him) on 12th Rabi-ul-Awwal, said a statement issued on Sunday.
The IGP directed for monitoring of the main public gathering and procession of the 12th Rabi-ul-Awwal from watch towers and also to deploy the security personnel at roof-tops on the route of the main procession.
The Sindh police chief also directed for advance technical sweeping on the route of main procession by the bomb disposal squad.
The statement said there were around 3,028 mosques, 1,007 madarsas and 305 imambargahs in the metropolis. He directed the police stations to ensure intelligence information collections, immediate action, vigilance and deployment of plainclothes police personnel in connection with the security arrangements.
The IGP further directed the police stations to submit detailed reports about the strength of the staff, available arms and other equipment so as to take steps for up-gradation of the police stations.
