After England registered their first ODI win in India since 2006 on Friday, they move to Kochi for tomorrow’s second match in the unusual position of being 1-0 up in the series. Samit Patel, whose unbeaten 44 at Rajkot was a major factor in England’s 9-run win, admits it is foreign territory. “I’ve been here for 10 ODIs before and lost all 10,” he said. “To play in India in 2008 [when England lost 5-0] was quite demoralising … so to win the first ODI in Rajkot was fantastic.” You can follow every ball live at Test Match Sofa from 6.30am tomorrow.
South Africa wrapped up successive innings victories over New Zealand. After South Africa won the first Test at Cape Town by an innings and 27 runs, they were even more ruthless – and New Zealand more toothless – with-an-innings-and-193-run win at Port Elizabeth. Dale Steyn took eight wickets in the match as New Zealand were bowled out for 211 in the second innings.
