An emergency situation has been declared in all major state-run health facilities including the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) and Polyclinic Hospital, in the wake of the long march.
Under the emergency plan, holidays for doctors and paramedics have been cancelled till January 18. Hospital administrations have made dining and lodging arrangements for doctors and other staff members in the hospital for 48 hours.
The number of beds in emergency departments and other wards has been increased in order to deal with any untoward situation during the march.
