Information and Broadcasting Minister Qamar Zaman Kaira on Friday condemned the killing of journalists in Quetta and said that talks with the Employees’ Old-Age Benefits Institution (EOBI) for the insurance of journalists, was underway.
Talking to protesting media persons at the National Press Club, he said, “Payment and compensation for journalists killed in the Quetta blasts is not a solution.”
The National Press Club had arranged a protest over the killing of two reporters and a cameraman in a bomb blast in Quetta on Thursday. The minister said the government would provide the best possible medical facilities to injured journalists. Kaira said the government was ready to hold talks on the issue of the Wage Board Award.
