Islamabad Police equipped with teargas and rubber bullets ahead of Qadri’s march

Police and paramilitary forces have been equipped with teargas shells, rubber bullets and arms worth Rs50 million to resist the long march.
According to sources in the Interior Ministry, the ministry requested the Finance Ministry to provided Rs250 million to the chief commissioner office to finalise security arrangements for the long march. However, the finace department sanctioned Rs50 million to procure teargas shells and rubber bullets.
Meanwhile, Frontier Constabulary’s (FC) 100 platoons reached Islamabad on Saturday for maintenance of law and order ahead of Tahirul Qadri’s march in the federal capital. Official sources said that hurriedly drawn from different units, a contingent of 4,000 FC personnel would perform duties in the capital city. Rangers and FC, besides police force from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Azad Kashmir and Punjab have been called in to help Islamabad police for the maintenance of law and order. Moreover, Pakistan Army has also been put on alert to avert any untoward incident(s).
