Verification of electoral rolls kicks off

The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Thursday started the process of door-to-door voter verification in Karachi.
The ECP officials said the verification process will continue from January 10 to February 01 in different areas of the city and the commission’s crew will not take any single day off in the meantime, so that the process finishes at its stipulated time.
Officials said that about 15,000 ECP workers are taking part in the drive. Following the voter verification, the ECP would compile its record within a week or so and would verify the record with the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) before completing the task.
The staff of provincial election commission including five Registration Officers (ROs), 197 Assistant Registration Officers (AROs), 3216 supervisors and 11,300 verification officials have start door-to-door verification of more than 6.9 million voters in Karachi from Thursday along with the personnel of Army, Rangers and Frontier Corps (FC).
