Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif, at the inauguration of the Sixth Road flyover, said the corrupt government had leeched the country off its resources and Nawaz Sharif would be the perfect candidate to steer the country out of its conundrum.
He said this while addressing a public meeting at Pir Mehr Ali Shah Barani Agriculture University. The next general elections will decide the country’s fate and will be crucial for its survival and security, he said. The president has traipsed all the way from America and Europe to work towards a foreign agenda and derail the democratic system.
Shahbaz said that he had set up tent offices at the Minar-e-Pakistan and Liaquat Bagh, Rawalpindi, to express solidarity with the country during severe bouts of load shedding.
He said he had worked hard to remove the menace of dengue from Punjab and provide relief to people during floods. He said the completion of development projects in a transparent and speedy manner was the hallmark of the Punjab government. He said the completion of the Sixth Road flyover in 100 days was an example of his government’s commitment to providing prompt assistance to people.
He said the Rawalpindi Institute of Cardiology was being constructed at a cost Rs 2.5 billion. It will become functional this month and medical facilities will be available to cardiac patients from the Rawalpindi division, Murree, Azad Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan and KP.
Shahbaz said the Punjab government was bringing an educational revolution through the distribution of laptops among talented students. He said that ignorance and poverty will be eliminated through educational programmes.
Earlier, Shahbaz inaugurated the flyover by unveiling a plaque. He was informed about the progress of ongoing development projects in Rawalpindi, and was told that a number of mega projects had been completed, while work on the Pir Wadhai Chowk and Morhoon Chowk project was almost complete.
