Court stops construction on railway bridge

Civil Judge Aamir Zia has issued a stay order to stop construction on a railway crossing bridge that would be constructed on the private property of a citizen in Chaklala. The court summoned Pakistan Railways and Rawalpindi Development Authority officials in this regard to submit their replies. According to advocate Umar Awan, the railways and city administration were constructing the railway crossing bridge on 10 marlas of private property owned by Zahoor Ahmed in Chaklala, without compensation. The plaintiff prayed to the court to stop the construction work. The court, accepting the plaintiff’s request, stopped construction and issued notices to the two authorities.
