The Capital Development Authority (CDA) on Thursday canceled the allotment of residential plots to 109 officers in two residential sectors, following a strong protest by the CDA Mazdoor Union. On Wednesday, the authority had offered residential plots to officers of grades 17 to 19, who were entitled to get plots measuring 40×80. These plots had been allotted in sectors I-8 and D-12, said a CDA official. However, a day after the issuance of offer letters, CDA Chairman Tahir Shahbaz had issued a notification canceling the allotment of plots. According to the notification, the chairman had constituted a committee to formulate a comprehensive framework for the allotment of plots to CDA staffers. The chairman had neither approved nor directed any CDA officer to allot those plots to officers. “Any offer letter(s)/allotment(s) issued in this regard is/are of no legal consequence, and may be treated as canceled,” said the notification, adding that the matter regarding the allotment of plots would be decided in consultation with the CBA.
