Mutahidda Qaumi Movement (MQM) leadership has decided not to participate in the planned long march by Tehrik-e-Minhajul Quran (TMQ) chief Dr Tahirul Qadri, reports a private TV channel.
The decision came in a press conference by the MQM Deputy Convener Dr Farooq Sattar who told journalists that party leadership has decided not to participate in the long march while it would continue to support Qadri’s ideology.
According to the sources, the decision has been conveyed to Qadri.
To Qadri’s further chagrin, Federal Interior Minister Rehman Malik has also informed Qadri that the No Objection Certificate (NOC) will not be issued for his long march.
However, TMQ Nazim Aala Rahiq Abbasi said that the long march would not be affected by MQM’s decision.
Dr Qadri is expected to address a press conference today.
