Ombudsman’s office issues notices of hearing in 27,000 cases

The Federal Ombudsman has issued notices of hearing for 27,000 cases on receipt of complaints from citizens against government agencies regarding maladministration. Charges include acts of omission and commission based on injustice, negligence, delays and incompetence in deciding matters.
These notices have been issued in regional offices and the Federal Ombudsman head office. Cases will be heard at the head office in Islamabad and regional offices in Karachi, Lahore, Peshawar, Quetta, DI Khan, Faisalabad, Multan and Sukkur.
When Acting Federal Ombudsman Salman Faruqui had resumed charge, around 75,000 cases were pending in the office. Faruqui had issued instructions for early disposal of all pending cases and around 8,550 have been disposed off in the last ten days.
