SC accepts MQM review petition against Karachi delimitation

The Supreme Court (SC) on Wednesday accepted Mutahida Quami Movement’s (MQM) review petition against fresh delimitation in Karachi, dismissing the objections raised by Registrar office.
A five-judge bench of the court headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry admitted the plea for formal hearing.
The petition challenges the court ruling of Nov 26 and Nov 28, 2012.
Counsel for the MQM Faroogh Nassem said that his client had no objection over October 6, 2011 judicial order terming it ‘as correct in the right direction’.
Naseem further said that MQM only challenges implementation of the court order as delimitations could not be carried out without census according to the law.
