The President’s House, Prime Minister’s House, intelligence agencies and defence institutions are among defaulters who have failed to make payments against use of electricity, a report issued by the Pakistan Electric Power Company (PEPCO) has revealed.
Per the report submitted to the power crisis committee, the Army Military Engineering Service was a defaulter of Rs 824.6 million, army personnel deployed at borders had yet to pay Rs 89.5 million, military dairy farms owed Rs 14.7 million and Joint Staff Headquarters was to pay Rs 16.7 million.
In total, the defence services owe Rs 1.13 billion, while Rs 47.9 million are outstanding against the Defence Production Division.
The report said the President House was a defaulter of power dues amounting to Rs 15.8 million, Prime Minister’s Secretariat had to pay Rs 4.12 million, office and residence of Senate chairman Rs 59.9 million, residences of federal ministers Rs 13.8 million, the Supreme Court Rs 3.67 million and the Federal Shariat Court owed Rs 3.94 million.
The Election Commission of Pakistan owed Rs 3.32 million, the federal police department Rs 25.8 million, Intelligence Bureau Rs 6.3 million, FIA Rs 8 million, Ministry of Railways Rs 263.4 million, Ministry of Bordering Areas Rs 340 million and Frontier Constabulary Balochistan Rs 100 million.
The report further disclosed that Rs 7.23 billion were outstanding against the federal government and its subsidiary departments.
