Mohammad Zaka Ashraf, Chairman Pakistan Cricket Board has said the tour of Bangladesh to Pakistan is still on and only date adjustments are being worked out in consultation with the Bangladesh Cricket Board.
“Bangladesh team’s tour to Pakistan is not off, it is still on and we are working on adjusting dates of the tour with the cooperation of BCB,” he told newsmen here Monday on return of the Pakistan team after winning the one-day series in India.
Pakistan team was accorded a warm welcome on its arrival at Lahore airport and all the players and the team management officials were profusely garlanded.
PCB Chief said he had a productive meeting with head of BCB, Nazamul Hasan and they discussed the tour of Bangladesh team to Pakistan.
“We are confident that we will soon be announcing the dates of the tour.”
To the much surprise of the journalists, the PCB chairman said that the Indian team will tour Pakistan in the near future as cricket diplomacy has paved the way for revival of bilateral series.
When his attention was drawn to the statement of the Indian Cricket Board authorities that the Indian team will not visit Pakistan as the country (Pakistan) needs to improve its security and law and order situation, the chairman said: “We are working on it (on the tour of Indian team to Pakistan) and we will be giving a very good news to the nation in this regard very soon as both the countries are involved in cricket diplomacy,” he asserted.
Chairman PCB attributed Pak team’s success in three match one day series to collective team efforts and hard work of the players. “It is a memorable victory which the team achieved after 2005, the last time it won against India and I would say that all the players did their best to inspire the team to success.”
Zaka said that the Pakistan team is gelling into a winning combination with each passing day and it is hoped that it will continue the flow of its success in its future ventures.
He said the sterling performance of the Pak team left the Indian crowds in surprise as they (crowds) were not expecting that quality form and performance from the Pak team.
Pak one-day captain Misbah ul Haq said the team achieved a milestone by beating India by putting up a collective show. “It is a big victory , a big success and its credit goes to the entire team which also has young players in the ranks who underlined their talent with splendid performance,” he said.
He dispelled an impression that Pakistan team seemed relaxed in the third and last one day. “We were fully focused and determined to win the last game but unfortunately we could not get a faouvrable result as the Indian team fought back in a better way.”
Pak T20 captain, Muhammad Hafeez said he congratulates the whole nation on team’s success which came after eight years. “Team excelled in all departments of the game and our young players, specially Nasir Jamshid, Mohammad Irfan and Junaid Khan led from the front to better the fortune of the team,” he said.
He further added: “Hard work and training on part of the team management motivated every player to fight with a renewed zeal to beat India in their own backyard.”
He said the hard work of players and commitment proved that how good the Pakistan team is. “We waited long for this tour and worked really hard and all the players gave their best to outshine India.”
