No respite from cold till January 20:MET

Earlier today, the stretch of Motorway from Lahore to Kot Momin was shut and the traffic was diverted towards GT Road. However, after several hours of closure, Kot Momin Interchange was re-opened. Many areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa would also remain fog-blanketed. Flight operations at Benazir International Airport cancelled remained suspended on Tuesday morning and would remain adhoc in the upcoming days. Meanwhile, the MET forecasted a fresh spell of precipitation taking effect in the country from January 11. Met Director Azmat Hayat said that snowfall is expected in upper areas of the country and on margalla hills. He said that 2012-2013 winters had broke had been the coldest since 1950’s.
The MET forecasted the minimum temperature at minus 15 degree centigrade in Skardu.
