Meeting held to discuss arrangements for the ‘long march’

A meeting on Monday reviewed the arrangements and security plan for Minhajul Quran Chief Dr Tahir ul Qadri’s long march.
The meeting was chaired by Interior Affairs Minister Rehman Malik.
Malik has sought a report on security threats pertaining to the march, from the Islamabad Police till January 11.
The district administration told Malik that Rs 250 million were required for security arrangements, while 10,000 security personnel would have to be deployed at the march. Malik directed them to send a summary to the finance department for issuing a grant for these arrangements. He also directed them to ensure the safe arrival of students and asked the business community not to shut down their businesses. The meeting discussed different options locations that could be allotted for the long march. The meeting was also informed about the trading community’s concerns.
