BISP trainees to get overseas employment: Zardari

President Asif Ali Zardari said on Monday that the manpower being provided with trade training under the Waseela-e-Rozgar scheme of Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) would be exported to enable them to earn respectful livelihood for themselves.
He said this while addressing a ceremony in Karachi on Monday where he performed computer balloting for the grant of assistance under Waseela-e-Rozgar and Waseela-e-Haq schemes and distributed certificates among those who had completed their trade training.
The president said Waseela-e-Haq scheme was enabling thousands of people to stand on their own and in its next tenure the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) would launch a scheme to send trained manpower abroad.
Meanwhile, President Asif tasked the BISP to generate 150,000 overseas jobs for youth armed with technical training. The president directed that the task should be accomplished in consultation with the Ministries of Overseas Pakistanis and Foreign Affairs.
He said during the last five years‚ the BISP had gained international credibility and was being supported freely by international donors. He further said that for the first time a programme prepared and evolved indigenously had been validated by international donors.
The President also thanked the international community and partners for their help and support. Their support, he said, has enabled bring about a revolutionary change in the lives of the poor and dispossessed
However, the president noted that it would take more time for this programme to become a total success. He pointed out that Pakistan had a huge population and there was great scope to increase the reach of this programme in the future.
He also said private formats of the programme could also be developed and banks could also contribute their share to expand the programme.
The ceremony held at the Bilawal House Karachi and was attended among others by Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah, PPP Chairman Bilawal Zardari, Bakhtawar Zardari, Aseefa Zardari, federal and provincial ministers, parliamentarians and others besides the beneficiaries of Waseela-e-Rozgar scheme.
