Shudders galore as mercury drops to zero

The temperature turned freezing in the federal capital on Sunday, with a minimum temperature of 0 degree centigrade recorded, said Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD).
A private television channel reported that the Islamabad airport was closed due to heavy fog. Residents experienced the lowest temperature this season and the weather will remain cold, dry and foggy during the next 24 hours.
According to synoptic situation, continental air prevails over most parts of the country, and mainly cold and dry weather is expected during the next 24 hours. Severe cold will continue to prevail in the northern regions of Balochistan, KP and Gilgit-Baltistan.
There will be dense fog in Punjab, Peshawar and Sukkur divisions, the MET office forecast. The minimum temperature in the country was recorded in Skardu where mercury fell to -13 degree centigrade.
