MQM members in the provincial assembly have expressed grave concerns over the shortage of flour in Karachi and Hyderabad and the profiteering by hoarders. They demanded stern action against the element responsible for the shortage of flour in the province.
In a joint statement, the MQM MPAs said that the export of wheat had created scarcity in Sindh. The profiteers are taking advantage of the situation, and poor people are forced to buy the flour at high prices. They demanded Governor Sindh Dr Ishratul Ebad and Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah to take serious notice of the shortage of wheat in province, particularly Karachi and Hyderabad. They called for banning the inter-provincial movement of wheat immediately.
