Wapda in final of Women Challenge Hockey Cup

Wapda beat Pakistan Army 3-0 to move into the final of the 1stWomen Challenge Cup women hockey tournament here on Friday at the outer ground of the national stadium.
In another match Punjab got rid of Sindh with a fine 3-0 victory. Wapda has now ten points from three victories and one drawn game , out of total four matches played so far. Pakistan Railways with seven points after winning two matches, one drawn and one loss, have already qualified for the final which will be played on January 6 after tomorrow’s Saturday rest day. Punjab will take on Pakistan Army in a classification match for the third place.
Wapda and Army played a goalless first half as the long term possession of ball by either sides confined the game to mid field.
After a dull first half, Wapda got into action to stamp their supremacy. Azra Nasir struck a field goal in the 33rd minute as Aqeela Naseem netted their second goal in the 49thminute off a short corner with Azra adding her second goal in the 69stminute off a mid field move.
Bushara Nazir scored two minutes before the close of the first half as Punjab gained 1-0 lead over Sindh. Asma Ashraf scored Punjab’s second goal after converting a penalty corner in the 56th minute. Bushara contributed her second goal in the 61stth minute.
