The court also directed the police to submit the charge sheet (challan) of the case at the Registrar’s office on Saturday (today).
A three-judge SC bench, headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry and comprising Justice Gulzar Ahmed and Justice Azmat Saeed, heard the murder case. Shahzeb, the only son of his parents, was shot dead on December 25 in Karachi because of a petty argument. During the hearing, the bench showed annoyance over the absence of the Sindh IG and the Sindh advocate general. Sindh Additional IG Muhammad Rafiq was present in the court and so was directed to arrest the killers “or to come to the court on the next date of hearing, January 7, without uniform”.
Rafiq and Additional Advocate General Kasim Mir Jat informed the bench that the Sindh IG and the AG could not come due to the cancellation of their flights.
Referring to a previous case, the chief justice said, “The IG was saved in the last case but tell him he will not be pardoned this time,” adding that he should have appeared in person.
During the course of hearing, a DVD of the interview of Sikandar Jatoi, father of Shahrukh Jatoi, the accused in the case, was also played in the courtroom in the presence of the Sindh police. Sikandar’s interview was recorded by a private TV channel. The father of accused claimed that his son, Shahrukh left the country the night between December 24 and 25. After seeing the interview, the bench observed that the police were reluctant to carry out investigations. The bench remarked that if an anchorperson could approach Sikandar, why had the police failed?

  1. The honorable Chief Justice of Supreme Court must have by now realized that masses of this country are the most powerless on this planet and real power is controlled by an Oligarchy of an acute minority headed by the feudal. ShahXeb's cold blooded brutal murder just highlights this pathetic and abhorring situation. A complete change of system is needed through a revolution. However, multi ethnic societies normally go through civil war and blood shed rather than a revolution.

  2. Even the coming elections could not force Sind govt for once to perform by catching criminals instead of protecting them. Even AZ was in town when all this happened. No wonder Karachi is the crime capital of Asia and this govt has further contributed to its shame and notoriety

  3. I think now DSP aurgnzab has realized what is pain of death of love ones who are picked to kill in Karachi regular target killings, happening there for last 8 years in regular manner, Seeing his financial status I think it is no difficult to judge that he has also contributed in this deadly feuds many times by his powerful bosses.
