The Managerial Society (MSL) of the Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) has organised a three day event set to commence today (Saturday) till January 7. The society had earlier won first prize at the Young Entrepreneur Business Plan Competition last year. The MSL is a valuable resource for students who want to attain proficiency in business management, build connections in the corporate world, and express creativity through innovative ideas and experience networking. In order to provide these opportunities, the MSL has previously held numerous workshops, competitions and seminars including last year’s flagship business conference “Emerge”. The three-day entrepreneurial event is part of MSL’s efforts to hone entrepreneurship among students. The LUMS Business Initiative’ 13 (LBI) will emphasise the importance of business management and green entrepreneurial practices to the youth. The LBI will highlight the flexible nature of the corporate sector and room for innovation in it to motivate future entrepreneurs to move out of the confines of traditional attitudes to business. The event organisers aim to accomplish this by arranging competitions that challenge delegates to come up with realistic ways to implement creative business ideas and facilitating discussions that stimulate innovative thinking. The MSL has chosen “Greenopreneurship” as the theme for the event to encourage sustainable business activity, endorse eco-conscious decisions and create awareness of consequences that poor business procedures have on the environment. The event will highlight the need to curtail persisting corporate free-riding practices which compromise the health of the environment. With the tag line “Act smart, dream big and achieve more through LBI’13”, the event encompasses four stimulating business events, various enlightening workshops delivered by experts and three social events including the closing ceremony scheduled on the last day to reward the participants’ hard-work. The competitions aim to challenge participants to think, act and make decisions like entrepreneurs. The participants will engage in activities that stress the significance of green entrepreneurship but also inculcate in them the ability to make efficient entrepreneurial choices.
