Eight people died and at least four others injured on Friday as the wave of violence and killings continued in Karachi.
According to police, unknown miscreants sprayed bullets at a car with three people on board in Essa Nagri locality of the city killing two persons on the spot and injuring another. The injured was rushed to a hospital where he succumbed to his wounds. The police also recovered the bodies of three unidentified men from Baldia Town.
Bodies of two youngsters were found from Netty Jetty Bridge in the precincts of Jackson Police Station. According to police, the deceased were kidnapped and later shot dead.
Meanwhile, firing incidents continued in different areas of the city during which more than 10 people were injured.
The citizens of Karachi and members of the business community criticized the federal and provincial governments and security forces for their failure to overcome the law and order situation in the city.
“The surge in violence has not only adversely affected the routine life but has also hit business activities, depriving thousands of people of their livelihood,” a businessman said.
In raids and sting operations, rangers and police took 15 suspected criminals into custody. They also claimed to have recovered arms and drugs from the possession of detainees.
Excise team arrests 8 accused: Karachi excise team raided in different parts of city on Friday and seized 230 illicit bottles of liquor arrested eight accused. Cases have been registered against them under various sections.
The excise team raided in the areas of Essa Nagri, Machar Colony, Burns road, Khamiso Goth, Bhains Colony, Juma Goth, Yousuf Goth and TB Hospital Ibrahim Hyderi and arrested Jan Sher Khan, Muhammad Ismail, Wahid Bux, Ali Muhammad, Roshan Ali, Aslam and Saleem Baloch and recovered 230 illicit bottles of liquor and 360 grams hashish.
Two die in mishaps: A woman burnt to death and a man died in road mishap in Karachi on Friday. Police said Sana, 20, burnt to death during cooking in her house no 210 sector A, Orangi Town, in the limits of Orangi Town Police Station. The body was shifted to ASH for postmortem.
Meanwhile, a speeding vehicle knocked 45-year-old Abdul Rasheed to death in Nazimabad No 2 in the limits of Gulbahar Police Station. The body was moved to ASH for postmortem.
