At least 20 militants were killed and 14 others injured when security forces backed by fighter jets targeted their hideouts in Jamrud tehsil of Khyber Agency on Friday. Officials said the forces acted on a tip-off and targeted militant hideouts in Dwatoyee area of Jamrud with the help of fighter jets. As a result, five dens were destroyed and 20 of the occupants were killed. The toll could not be independently verified due to inaccessibility to the area. However, tribesmen confirmed the aerial strikes in an area dominated by Kokikhel Afridi tribe. Officials said militants hiding in the area were involved in recent terrorist acts in Peshawar and its surrounding areas.
