SHC directs police to produce DEO in court

The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Thursday directed the Sindh secretary home department, Rangers director general, inspector general of police (IGP), and other respondents to produce the abducted district education officer (DEO) in the court. This order came on petition filed by Ghulam Sarwar, headmaster in education department who moved the court for seeking court directives to the respondents for recovery of his missing brother. The petitioner cited province of Sindh through secretary home department, Rangers director general, inspector general of police (IGP), senior superintendent of police (SSP) Gulshan-e-Iqbal Town, station house officer Aziz Bhatti police station, chairman and deputy director anticorruption establishment and chief of CPLC as respondents. Petitioner submitted that on January 2, 2013, his brother Abdul Jabbar Dayo was going to office along with his driver. When he reached near Federal Urdu University located in Gulshan-e-Iqbal Town, a corolla car intercepted them, he added. Five men having sophisticated weapons and wearing police caps got off the car and held his brother hostage at gunpoint and took him away, he added. He said he approached the police station for lodging an FIR but they refused to lodge the case. He prayed to court to direct the respondents to produce his brother in court and also direct the SHO of concerned police station to lodge the FIR. Headed by the Justice Aqeel Ahmed Abbasi, the division bench issued notice to the respondents and put off the hearing till January 11.
