Five members of a family including three children sustained burn injuries after a liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) cylinder exploded in the kitchen of a house on Thursday.
A small fire erupted followed by an explosion at 2:42a.m in a house in the Chaklala Scheme-III due to poor cylinder installation arrangements, Rescue 1122 sources said.
The victims identified as Ali Ashraf (40), Shamla (35), Sadia (13), Sanaullah (9) and Safiullah (2) were shifted to the Combined Military Hospital.
According to sources, the victims received up to 60 percent burn injuries. The rescue team reached the site within three minutes of receiving a call, and the fire-fighting squad succeeded in extinguishing the fire in one hour.
