Pakistan Cultural Week celebrated at Lok Virsa

Artists, performers and dancers at the Pakistan Cultural Week celebrations on Wednesday enthralled the audience with outstanding performances at Lok Virsa.
The inauguration ceremony was held at the National Art Gallery with thrilling performances by Hadiqa Kiyani, and folk singers Ashiq Jatt, Shazia Khushk, Akhtar Channal and Haseena Naz. All artists were well received by the audience and Hadiqa’s and Channal’s performances were considered spectacular.
Folk dancers included the famous Kalash group, Cholistani dance group, Balochi Leva group, Sindhi dance party and dhol (traditional drums) artists from Punjab. The PNCA folkloric ensemble “Taxila Odyessi” also performed on the occasion. The venue for the Pakistan Cultural Week celebrations is the Lok Virsa Complex and activities include a cultural heritage exhibition, art and a craft bazaar, folk songs and dance performances.
Traditional floats representing all federating units, 24 entrance gates on highways and busy roads, decoration and beautification of different chowks and roundabouts on various themes, stage plays, special attractions for families and children and a closing award ceremony are scheduled to take place on the last day of the event. Lok Virsa Executive Director Khalid Javaid requested the audience to help Lok Virsa by attending the celebrations, and propagating a message of unity, peace, love, tolerance and harmony among the entire nation. The event will continue till January 7 from 11am to 6pm and entry is free.
