A petition has been moved before the Lahore High Court (LHC) against the long march announced by the controversial religious leader Tahir-ul-Qadri on January 14.
Petitioner Huzaifa Bukhari submitted his petition in the Rawalpindi LHC Bench, and made the Federation of Pakistan, the Punjab Government, Tahir-ul-Qadri and Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) as respondents.
The petitioner claimed that Qadri was a Canadian citizen who wanted to postpone the general elections through his long march. He prayed to the court to give orders against the march and initiate proceedings against Qadri as the march reflected anti-state sentiment and was a conspiracy to abrogate the Constitution. The petitioner added that the proposed march could create a chaotic situation and the court must give orders to stop it. The Bench accepted the petition and will hear the case today (Thursday).
Qadri, along with the MQM, has called for a ‘Million-Man March’ in Islamabad to demand electoral reforms. Qadri said that Islamabad will become a ‘peaceful’ Tahrir Square during the march. MQM Chief Altaf Hussain has expressed full support for Qadri and his cause and encouraged party workers to participate in the march to bring a ‘revolution’ in Pakistan.
They are there in the government since 2002, they have remained in every elected & non elected government, they can’t live without power, they are the fourth pillar of this government for the last five years, yet they talk about revolution – Can anybody here tell me the exact word for hypocrisy and comedy combined ? I cannot think of a single thing in so many years he has done for the country or for Islam, has he brought any laws to benefit Islam or implement it. I think we should not listen to illogical people like him or people who do not want the common man to improve.
MQM and Qadri G are both enemies of our country Pakistan. Both are acting against the interest of our country. MQM will protest against its own government. While the Qadri G had taken part in election in Musharraf regime. In Musharraf regime why Qadri G was not calling a million march for reforms. Qadri G is a great hypocrite person and when he joined hand with MQM, now it is not difficult to discover his secret foreign anti-Pakistan agenda.
