Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) held the Sindh health minister responsible for deaths of innocent children due to measles. In a statement issued here on Wednesday, JI leaders Muzaffar Hashmi, Laeeq Khan, Nusrullah Shajih, Hameedullah Advocate and Yunus Barai expressed their deep concern over deaths due to measles and demanded to sack the provincial health minister and register a case against him. They said many mothers had lost their children due to the negligence of Sindh government and its health minister. “The measles has been proved deadly as the federal and provincial health departments did not issue tenders for the purchase of the vaccine to prevent measles,” they blamed. They said after the devolution of health department, it was the responsibility of provincial health department to arrange measles vaccine before winter but unfortunately the government failed to pay heed towards this serious issue.
