World Health Organisation (WHO) on Tuesday said 306 children died in Pakistan due to measles in 2012. Although the WHO spokesperson, Maryam Yunus, did not give a reason for the increase in deaths, a provincial health official said the disease hit areas where parents could not afford vaccination for their children. Yunus said in southern Sindh, where measles caused the death of 28 children in 2011, 206 children had died this year. Sindh Health Minister Saghir Ahmed said around 100 children had died in Sindh in December alone.
