The Supreme Court of Pakistan (SC) on Monday heard the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) scam case involving its former chairman Tauqeer Sadiq.
The SC bench headed by Justice Jawwad S Khawaja was informed by Inspector General Punjab Police Chaudhry Habib-ur-Rehman that the former OGRA chairman might have fled to Nepal and a team has been sent there to arrest him.
He further said that three daughters of Tauqeer Sadiq are in Nepal and probably he is also present there. IG Punjab said that his front man was arrested three days ago.
On this, Justice Jawwad Khawaja asked that through which airline his daughters went to Nepal and what the team has reported so far.
He also remarked that how Tauqeer Sadiq managed to escape as cameras are installed at the airport.
Later, the court summoned the report of airport cameras and finger print records.
The SC had given the deadline of December 31 to arrest and present the high-profile fugitive and former chairman OGRA Tauqir Sadiq who is involved in a Rs45 billion scam.
The Supreme Court adjourned the hearing of the case till January 2. The apex court has sought a reply on what action NAB is taking against those officers who are not making any effort to arrest Tauqeer Sadiq.
