Islamabad Inspector General of Police (IGP) Bani Amin Khan has issued directions to deploy police contingents at important places, including shopping centers and main markets, for the safety of the general public on New Year’s Eve.
Police Commandos have been deployed at different places of the city, while patrolling was being extensively carried out by ASP, DSP and Inspector level officers. In addition, provision of more strength to police stations had also been provided by the high-ups. All police stations have been directed to ensure strict security arrangements in their respective areas while over 500 cops would also perform extra duties in various areas of the city.
SSP (Traffic) Dr Moeen Masood had also constituted special squads to maintain traffic flow in the capital and a detailed deployment plan had been made to control traffic in the city. He had directed the staffers to take strict action against one-wheeling, racing and without silencers motorcycles and cars.
More than 400 traffic policemen in the form of various teams headed by Zonal DSPs, Inspectors and beat officers would be deployed throughout the entire district. Special traffic police squads would also maintain active patrolling to curb one-wheeling and racing activities on city roads. On the directions of Islamabad IGP, SSP (Traffic) said that a special plan had been prepared on the occasion. Meanwhile, Islamabad police would also assist the traffic police to curb incidents of rash driving and one-wheeling.
The Islamabad IGP had also appealed to the citizens to demonstrate responsible attitude on the occasion and to avoid involvement in irresponsible activities on the occasion.
