Rs 5 billion being spent to improve roads in Sindh

Federal Minister for Communications Dr Arbab Alamgir Khan has said that roads infrastructure is being developed at the cost of Rs 75 billion in Sindh.
He said this while talking to media persons after the inauguration of three roads schemes of international standard in Larkana and Benazirabad (Nawabshah) districts at Naudero House by the President Asif Ali Zardari.
The road schemes completed with the cost of Rs 800 million include Ratodero-Naudero road, Rs 1.5 billion Sakrand-Shaheed Benazirabad road and Rs 3.5 billion Lakhi-Naudero-Larkana road. These road schemes have been completed by the National Highways Authority (NHA).
The minister said all the road projects carried out by National Highway Authority (NHA) are being constructed on international standards.
He said construction work on 210-km Ratodero-Sehwan road is underway at a cost of Rs 14 billion with the financial assistance of government of Japan.
He further said the mega project of the Qazi Ahmed-Aamri Bridge on river Indus will be completed next month. He said construction work on Sukkur-Shikarpur-Jacobabad road is also continuing at the cost of Rs 8 billion.
The minister said seven road projects were started at a cost of Rs 22 billion in Larkana, out of which three projects have been completed while the remaining four will be completed next month.
The minister said the work was in full swing on Larkana package and under construction Sukkar, Shikarpur, Jaccobabad road and all the development projects throughout the country would be completed timely.
He told the completion of these road schemes will bring a new era of prosperity as development had started in the area. He said the present leadership of PPP was carrying forward the vision of Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto and Shaheed Benazir Bhutto, and working for the welfare of deprived segments of the society.
He said the sacrifices of Bhutto family for strengthening of democracy in the country would always be remembered, adding the whole nation is united under the dynamic leadership of President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Raja Pervaiz Ashraf.
