More than 550 graduates and post graduates of the Ripha International University were awarded degrees in the Seventh Convocation held here on Saturday at the Jinnah Convention Centre.
International Center for Chemical and Biological Sciences, Hussain Ebrahim Jamal (HEJ) Research Institute of Chemistry, University of Karachi Patron-in-Chief Prof Dr Atta ur Rahman, was the chief guest while University of Management and Technology, Lahore Rector Dr Hasan Sohaib Murad was the guest of honor on the seventh convocation.
More than 550 students were awarded degrees at the convocation. The graduate and post-graduate students belonged to various faculties including the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Management Sciences, Engineering and Applied Sciences, Computing, Social Sciences and Humanities, Basic Sciences and Media Sciences.
13 Zulfiqar Gold Medals and 16 Chancellor’s Gold Medals were awarded to the graduates and post-graduates for obtaining top positions in the examinations and securing distinction for their best performance in the academic field in various disciplines.
Speaking on the occasion Prof Dr Atta congratulated the graduating students and prayed for their success in practical life. He also congratulated the management and faculty of the Riphah International University for maintaining high standards of education and for holding regular convocations. He said Pakistan needed highly educated youth with a commitment to transform society into a knowledge-based society. He further said that higher educational institutions had to play a vital role in social development and educational transformation of the people. Riphah International University was making a great contribution in this regard, he added.
Dr. Hasan Sohaib Murad, in his speech, said that the public sector, as well as the private sector, had to play a responsible role in building the future based on knowledge economies. He said Riphah International University had set an example for other institutions in imparting standard professional education with special focus being provided to character building of the students.
The Ripah International University Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Anis Ahmad, in his address, said that we were living in an age of globalisation marked with global challenges in strategic areas of economy, education, security and culture. He said the university had tried its best to prepare graduates with knowledge, skills and leadership qualities to meet these challenges effectively and successfully. New logo of Riphah International University was also launched at the convocation.
