Society for Human Rights and Prisoners Aid (SHARP) on Thursday organised a one-day training workshop for capacity building of police officials in police training schools on titled Human and Refugee Rights in the Context of Relevant Laws and Notifications.
The workshop was inaugurated by SHARP Field Manager Sher Afgan with a welcome note where he said that the NGO was working for the benefit and welfare of the needy and vulnerable community in the society.
He stressed on the need for implementation of laws for human and refugee rights.
Imrana Hasham presented the introduction of SHARP and said that the organization was striving for reforms in legislations for human and refugee rights since 1999.
NSPP Director Mohammad Afzal Khial shed light on the fundamental rights conferred by Pakistan’s Constitution of 1973. He told the gathering that these rights were bestowed without any discrimination of color, creed and religion.
UNHCR representative Ihsanullah Khan gave a detailed account on the role of United Nations for protection of refugee rights and informed the participants about the international refugee law.
