The opposition parties on Thursday rejected the speeches made by the PPP leadership on the fifth death anniversary of PPP chairwoman Benazir Bhutto.
They said that hollow sloganeering without any practical plan over national issues were useless and reflected that the rulers thought that they could further befool the people of Pakistan with emotional statements and references to their martyrs.
Talking to Pakistan Today, PML-N spokesman Asim Khan said that the speeches by President Asif Zardari and his son Bilawal Zardari had disappointed the people.
“Since this was formal launching of Bilawal, the nation was expecting something concrete from the young man. However, since his speech had no mention to the miseries being faced by the masses, it is proved that the young man has no concerns with the people and there is a total disconnect between the UK-returned youngster and the people of Pakistan,” he added.
He said it would have been better if President Zardari or Bilawal had taken the nation into confidence about the killers of Benazir Bhutto.
PML-N secretary-information Mushahidullah Khan said that the president should have announced a date for elections rather than making tall claims.
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Secretary Information Shafqat Mahmood said that it was the incompetence of the PPP government that was reflected in past four and half years which forced the PPP leadership to emotionally blackmail the people taking patronage of their assassinated leader – Benazir Bhutto.
He said it was easy to make tall claims, which both President Zardari and Bilawal Bhutto made during their speeches at Garhi Khuda Bukhsh, but it was difficult to materialise the same.
“The claim by President Zardari that a consensus prime minister will be installed in a caretaker set up will remain unrealised if all opposition parties are not consulted,” he added.
He said that both the PML-N and PPP had struck an underhand deal on installing a caretaker set up that would help keep intact the status quo in the country. However, he added, the PTI will oppose such a deal between both the parties. He said by formally launching Bilawal Bhutto Zardari in practical politics, the PPP had added a new chapter to the family control on political parties.
He said it was useless to comment over Bilawal’s speech and the poor child had learnt by heart some traditional sentences, which he uttered in front of masses.
The PTI leader said it was useless to pin hopes on a government that had failed to apprehend those culprits who killed their leader.

  1. Not voting is not the siutloon. And you see this is exactly what I am talking about. I believe in voter education so that Waderaaz and feudal lords dont grab votes by force from those who simply dont know and dont understand the power of their vote.More representation must either be given to the educated class OR extensive efforts must be put in to educate our voters.Unless this happens, we will continue to see the same *families* in power, one after the other
